Reconstructing Natalie

"Reconstructing Natalie" is about a 20-something young woman who learns she has breast cancer. As she undergoes treatment, more than her breasts are reconstructed. She comes out of surgery, chemo and reconstruction with a new perspective on life.

It's a wonderful book. I laughed. I cried. I laughed some more and cried even harder.

I also thought about last year's RWA conference. When you fill a hotel with 2,000 women ranging in ages from 20-something to much older, you can't help but wonder how many have dealt with breast cancer. How many of us have gone through the scare of a lump or a questionable mammogram? I'd guess the majority. Reconstructing Natalie puts flesh and blood on the experience.

The book is also a reminder to be proactive. God gave us beautiful bodies. Let's take care of them . . .

Happy Fourth of July

I finished the first draft of the Christmas novella at 10:00 last night. Hooray! The fireworks were still popping. I felt like they were for me : )

The story needs polishing, but it's in pretty good shape. For now, I've put away the Christmas carols and gone back to Johnny Cash, Gary Allan and Todd Agnew. Great stuff!
