I made a resolution a few weeks ago. I promised myself I'd start using my cell phone as more than a mini-brick in the bottom of my purse. I don't like them for all the reasons people don't like cell phones, but I recently had a revelation.
By refusing to use my cell phone on, I was like a car on the Capitol Beltway doing 40 miles an hour, holding up traffic and inconveniencing everyone around me because I didn't want to go with the flow. There's a time to swim upstream, but the cell phone battle isn't worth it. Whether I like it or not, they've changed the face of how people communicate . . . how families communicate.
Today I had a question for my youngest son. I didn't even think twice. I texted him. He texted back. It took about 1 minute, no interruptions. I'm still not big on cell phones, but I do like texting! Must be the writer in me.

How cool, Vicki! I've yet to text--I've never done it, and I'm not quite sure how to! I'm sure someday I'll be dragged into that, too, but just not today ;) (It does sound like a convenient way to stay in touch!)
That's cool. It's funny to see parents texting. And you should be glad David texted you back. Last time i sent him a message it took a really long time to get a reply. haha
